Reform

Reform is to change and improve what is wrong, corrupt, or unsatisfactory. Folks can see things are broken in our country and world. Folks can feel we are at a critical crossroads. Folks aren't sure what to think about wars, weather, prices, and politics. However, in this boring first picture this morning, in the dark clouds, in the horizon, is a rainbow, a promise; "I will never leave you or forsake you".

We continue to harvest here in southern Iowa in-between the rains. We continue to be blessed with an excellent, positive, hard-working crew. We continue to be thankful for family that loves us, covers for us during long harvest hours, and gives us a short break with evening meals.

This past week we had the option of farm storage during the times the corn processing plant was closed. My job on this particular night was to watch the auger and make sure the bin didn't run over. Thank you Lane, for the phone charger and the flashlight.

We were down a combine this past week due to a hydrostat going out, due to all the muddy conditions. It was good to get it back from the repair shop Friday evening.

I heard from someone that we had rain 21 days in September. That slowed down corn harvest and stopped soybean combining. It also stacked up our own and custom harvesting. October has been good weather. So recently, while the main crew has gone one direction, the grandkids and I have gone another, working on custom work fields. Thanks for the picture Kristin.

We used night and early morning hours to work in some cover crop and fertilizer. The dryer October also allowed Mike to get some dozing projects completed and others started.

Reform is an October 31 word. Many of us don't prioritize Halloween or All-Saints Day. We call it Reformation Day. The Reformation in the 1500s was a dark time of crisis. A number of individuals stood up, called out the wrong and corruption in churches and geo-politics, and made an impact. Take the time to stand up and vote this coming Tuesday.

"Now reform your ways and your actions and obey the Lord your God. Then the Lord will relent and not bring the disaster He has pronounced against you." Jeremiah 26:13

Prepare for impact. Take this meaning as you see it. A time of darkness and crisis our culture deserves, or a continued time of relenting and grace. God is not nervous or wringing His hands. He will accomplish His purpose one way or the other. He did it in Jeremiah's day. He did it during the Reformation. He'll do it today.
