Remembering On Memorial Day
Good Morning. I hope you are enjoying your Holiday weekend. As a kid I remember my parents calling this weekend Decoration Day. I also remember flags and school being out so I could help my dad every day. Way back when our country set the last Monday in May to remember those who lost their lives fighting in wars. I read an article talking about the wars we have been involved in and American casualties. It said we lost around 1950 Americans during Desert Storm, 4400 during Iraqi Freedom, and 2200 since during Enduring Freedom. During the American Revolution 4400 soldiers died. The article said around 54000 American solders died in the Korean War. It mentioned 90000 died in Vietnam. I remember hearing somewhere else that Americans lost in Vietnam was 57000 so I'm not sure. It's still a lot. I still remember my draft number. The war ended when I was 16. The article said 117000 lives were lost in World War 1 and 406000 Americans died in World War 2. Our parents and gra...
