Have you ever been driving in your vehicle, taken a turn your navigation device wasn't too crazy about, and heard Miss Garmin say to you," recalculating"
Every time it rains again in southern Iowa we kind of recalculate our list of things we were planning on doing in April. I've lost track of spring precipitation amounts however last week we had over 8 inches including a frog strangler on Wednesday. If you see any of the TV news guys please tell them yes, the drought is officially over for now, when they keep asking.
So we just keep working on things in the shop. The kids love to help their Dads.
Often we create jobs for the kids to do. Jobs teach us all responsibility and help us feel like we've accomplished something at the end of the day.
We've had time for birthday parties. This is our oldest grandson, Gideon. He turned 11 this past week.
This chisel is a piece of equipment that's used in the fall. Since we have time we are getting it ready to go.
We are still delivering seed corn when the roads allow and as some of our later production from Argentina is slowly becoming available. Last year by this time we had corn up and in the row.
This is Roger, my fartherest away customer, and his son Dana, my boss in the seed business. Roger comes and picks up his own seed. They are a great family and it's always fun to visit and catch up. Roger is probably 25 years older than I am and he still hauls cattle for his neighbors with his Peterbilt.
Rainy Aprils give us time to babysit. My idea of babysitting is sitting on the couch, with a blanket, a heater on my toes, watching a movie.
Well, my idea lasted less than a minute. I was told we were to get up and dance when the music on the movie got fast. I said lets go play farm.
When the sun shines between rain showers it's really hard not to go get some jobs done so we go play in the mud.
Sometimes everyone has a job.
And sometimes we just all watch. Thanks for hanging out yesterday Emily. I enjoyed your company.
Becky had a birthday that ended in a zero so the girls all went out for supper. I'm blessed to have such a good bunch of daughter and daughter-in-laws.
So we will continue to recalculate while we wait for warmer, dryer weather to get this years crop in.
"Forgetting what's behind and looking forward to what's ahead, I continue toward the goal of winning the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus." Philippians 3:13
