What gets you up in the morning? What do you see when you look in the mirror? What do others see when they interact and watch you? How will you be remembered? When I look at myself I'd answer faith, family, friends, and farming.
Jayden, Lane, and Jackson helped Grandpa and Uncle Mark get a skidloader track back on.
Much of farming is repairs and maintenance. Jim is welding on Kurt's sprayer boom so he can get back to spraying second pass soybeans.
One of my favorite parts of summer is grandkids. Kurt and Emily's Jackson and Jayden's job was to wash Uncle Karl's truck.
BJ and Cassia's John is replacing a receiver-dryer and condenser on our Red Pete so Jim has air conditioning.
I'm reading Solomon's advice and wisdom in my early morning devotions. I'd like to share a few: "Don't befriend angry people or you will learn to be like them and endanger your soul". Pr. 22:24
"Don't eat with ungenerous people who are always thinking about what things cost. Your compliments will be wasted". Pr. 23:6
"Don't rejoice when others fail. And don't be happy when they stumble. For the Lord will be displeased with you". Pr. 23:17
One more. "Don't talk about others without cause and don't lie about them, trying to get even for what they've done to you". Pr. 24:28
My "why" often has rough and unfinished edges. I'm not fully complete. My sinful human nature gets in the way.
I've always thought God's purpose for me was to help others. However often busyness, self, and not being intentional get in the way. Serving is not what we do. It's a value. It's who we are.
We took grandkids to Risefest, an outdoor two day Christian concert, in Sheldon, Iowa Friday. I'm typing this visit in Dordt University's parking lot in Sioux Center with too little internet to load pictures. So let's finish this conversation next week. Know your why. And have a great week.
