Greetings from Malawi. Since the internet is working good today I thought I'd send some pictures your way. The weather here is warm. It rains every day some. Our work here is a little different from past years. We are forming an association called Farmer to Farmer Consulting Services.
We are meeting with folks to help us in this process. The people here are very friendly and always ready with a smile.
Harrison has been a big help. He is a farmer/pastor. He has worked for CRWRC in the past. He is helping us with driving, money exchanges, and interpreter. Harrison will be assisting our organization in accounting. He is also a Christian brother and friend.
Kondwani went to college in Lilongwe for agriculture. He has been working with the farmers in the villages for 4 years. He will continue to consult farmers encouraging them to see their ag occupation as a business to feed the country rather than just a garden to feed their family.
Jane lives in Nkhoma. She was a pastors wife and is now a widow. She works with the villages on health, nutrition, and financial help
Zeros is a local lawyer. He is helping with the logistics of getting an association started.
This is an example of a meal at the restaurant in our lodge. It comes sizzling. I've ordered the same thing 3 times and gotten a different version each time.
Malawi is just starting to see a little machinery. I thought this was an interesting version of a combine where they mount a tractor on top to power the machine.
Some village folks bring goods into town to sell. This gentleman is hauling in a load of firewood.
Church services are always special here in Malawi. Part of the two hour service (a short one because of a visiting pastor) is spent praying for specific needs for individuals.
Children sit together at church and are well behaved. They are very bright, friendly, and are active participants in their church service.
These are the 4 duplex's that Moses and Maria had just started last year. They house 8 families and are all rented out. It's rewarding to see how some with an entrepreneur mindset can succeed with a little help.
Here we are with Moses and Maria's extended family. In Malawi many families live together to share housing and water.
This is Praise Elizabeth. She was born and named after my sister when Beth was here. She is wearing one of the new outfits Jan sent along and carrying her new teddy bear on her back.
This is Jared. He had been asking his mother for (gums) every day. It was perfect that Jan had guessed at his size and bought him a pair of gum boots. He liked them so well he wouldn't take them off.
This is Moses and Maria on their bridge. They built it a number of years ago. It shortened some folk's walk by a mile. The small amount of toll was helping feed them. Recently the governor's son told them they would have to tear it down in the dry season because he didn't want folks walking on his land.
Here we are at a possible office we hope to rent for Jane for her part of our work. We are humbly grateful for things accomplished and thankful that God has given us the opportunity to help here. On this visit I am truly seeing results of past years help. Blessings until our next visit.
