Jammed Packed

Our week was about as packed as this chopper head. We spent the last few days doing our best to get ready for company. The chopper was chopping old sweet corn for feed for the cows out on dry pastures.
Becky called midafternoon one day and said she had found a larger Jeep. They were jammed packed in their older Jeep because of their growing boys. She asked if I would have time to go to St Louis with her and the boys. Jan graciously offered to babysit and Becky and I had a fun and quick trip. While we were driving home during the night we watched all the lightening that accompanied the wonderful showers we received this past week.
On Thursday the PC volleyball team came for an overnight visit. They were kicking off their season with a get together. I enjoyed getting to know them and leading them on a Ranger ride. At various places on the ride we would stop and I would tell them a story about the particular spot where we had stopped.
The PC football team came over Friday evening for a team picture. Their scripture verse for the year talks about encouraging and building each other up so Mike built a hill with his dozer and Becky did a great job of designing a team photo.
I owe this team a big Thank you for our weeks accomplishments. We not only prepare for our appreciation supper, we use the week to finish projects and get ready for the fall season. Our crew consists of part time and full time help, five brothers and a brother-in-law, and their dad.
I honestly don't know how she gets it all done but Jan once again had plenty of great food for Friday evening. Also a big Thank you to the wonderful, willing girls who helped serve.
The evening is always enjoyable. Our families good friend Rick joined us this year. I invited all the kids to come up and promised them a hat if they would help me introduce the speakers.
Rick enjoys Iowa people. He spoke about our responsibility individually as citizens of our great country to be a shining light by example and to speak the truth about our purpose.
After an overnight stay Rick and I headed for Ames where Rick was to speak at the Leadership Summit. Before the Summit we met with this wonderful couple for breakfast. Scott and Sue live in Ames and have eight children. Scott is a professor at Iowa State.
During the Summit I had the privilege of visiting with Dr. Tackett. He is just a wonderful, humble guy that God has used in many ways including the Truth Project.
At 7:14pm after the Leadership Summit was over a number of us met on stage to pray. 2 Chronicles 7:14 says, "If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and forgive their sin and heal their land". Sounds like a surefire way to help fix our country.
Last evening a group of us were invited to the Sargent's home after all the activities for food and fellowship. It was fun to visit with some of the speakers and other guests.
Donald is an interesting fellow to say the least.
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth". 2 Timothy 2:15. Our family, helpers, and guests made for a good week. Thank you
