Today we celebrate Christ's ressurection, a pretty amazing happening if you really think about it. Have you ever wondered about those friends of Jesus who got up while it was still dark, after a horrible weekend, to walk to a grave site to give their friend a proper burial, and find an empty grave?
Most of us will go to church this morning and sing, Up From The Grave He Arose, and listen and be thankful that Christ came to earth as a man, suffered for sins he didn't commit, went to the cross to pay for those sins which are actually ours, and defied death three days later. We call this the plan of salvation and it's ours for the asking.
So we accept that plan and are assurred of the gift of heaven with Christ when we die because our parents always told us hell was not a very fun place, now what? So we've got our eternity covered but we're still traveling through life down here on earth. What's our purpose here on earth until Christ returns or until our life is over?
Our purpose while we are still down here on earth is to live a life of gratitude for what Christ did for us.
We serve God by serving each other. That involves sharing, being kind, and putting others interest ahead of our own, just like Christ did for us.
Oh,we have plenty of work to do and and Christ gives us the talents and abilities to make things happen.
But while we are working we need to keep the big picture in mind and follow the mark of making a life, not just making a living.
Focusing on making a life involves a relationship with God. But we would be selfish if that's all we thought about. We can experiance a little bit of heaven on earth by having loving, serving, relationships with each other.
So the bottom line is today we celebrate God's gift of eternal life to us. But equally as important is until we die or until God comes back on the clouds we are to love, serve, and care about each other just as Christ did for us. By example we will be Christ's voice in this process we call life.
"I pray that God will be kind to you and bless you with peace! Christ obeyed His Father and gave Hinself as a sacrifice for our sins to rescue us from this evil world. God will be given glory forever and ever." Galatians 1:3-5
