Harvest 2011 will be remembered as one of my favorites. The warm, dry weather allowed for an early start. The crop was much better than expected. We have a team that's just fun to be around and work together with. This pose was for a Farm Bureau photographer that came out and took pictures one day.
Linda is our partime bookkeeper. She handles the mail, pays the bills, writes our commitments on the calendar for us so we don't forget, and helps keep office work organized.
Alex has been in season help for a number of years. He is the same age as Kurt and Karl. They used to play AAU ball together. He works anywhere he is needed and is great help.
Pablo is a neighbor and family friend. He is great help when time allows. He works fulltime at Osky Foods, partime at New Hope, and partime for brother Doug. Pablo always has a smile and a great attitude.
Bob is a retired neighbor that comes every Friday morning and cleans shop. It helps keep me organized when I know he's coming because then I tend to finish projects that might be in his way for cleaning.
Brad is in partnership with BJ on his grandpa's farm. He is a manager at MCG which is part of Musco. He is capable and can do any farm job he is asked to do. He and Julie have a daughter Avery that Cassia babysits for partime.
Isaiah is a senior at Pella Chr. High. He is a nephew that helps during honey hauling season. He has work release and helps in afternoons and on Saturdays.
Paula is Pablo's wife. She keeps the office clean. It is always fun to have her and their daughter Jestina around. Paula has a great attitude and is a hard worker. Sometimes the guys tend to leave tools, coats, shop manuals, or coffeetime lay in the office. After Paula's been here things are so clean we're just about scared to walk in.
This is Natalie Mae. She is the newest member of our team and family. Natalie was born this past Tuesday. She came home Thursday to join her mom and dad, BJ and Cassia, and her 4 brothers and sisters.
Finally a big "Thank you" to some team members I don't have pictures of this week, Brian and Becky who come out and help whenever time and responsibilities allow, and to our spouses who put up with our long hours in the field during fall fieldwork. I feel so blessed to be part of this family and team. Team work involves realizing, appreciating, and utilizing other people's potential. When a team has the right perspective and attitude, working together leads to discovering skills, talents, and abilities we may never have thought we possessed.
