Have you ever went back to a childhood memory and everything looked smaller than you remembered it? Forty years ago this highway was the main thoroughfare across the country. It's Old Highway 92 and it's looking toward Bellfountain Hill east of Tracy. Can you imagine trucks meeting each other going the 70 mph speed limit back then?
During the past week our country has been looking back and remembering 9/11/2001 and the people that died that day. Isn't it something how we all remember where we were and what we were doing when we heard the news?

Our small rural town did a really good job of not only honoring those who lost their lives that day, but also remembered the folks that worked at Ground Zero and helped with the recovery effort and moving forward after the attack. One of the things I remember is that for a few days everybody in this country thought it was a good thing to pray to a Sovereign God and ask for help.

Last week Sunday our church dedicated our new Fellowship Hall. These gentlemen were on the committee that planned and managed the project. Son, Mark is the young one in the bunch. The service consisted of looking back and remembering God's goodness to our church family.

Our morning service ended in the new fellowship hall and focused on moving forward in helping people feel more welcome and having more room for the younger folks of our church.

Oh my. I think I looked back to far. I had to be the goofiest looking fellow in all the 70's. At least I had a good looking date. This was Jan and I's first offical date. The couple beside us, Phil and Phylis introduced us.

This was our family 15 years after that first date. Looking back we didn't have a plan but God did. Oh sometimes back then I thought I had a plan and the harder I tried doing things on my own, the behinder I got. Finally I told God my plan for running things on my own wasn't working and I asked for some help and He's been helping me ever since.

One day this week after an unusual set of circumstances all six of our children happened to be around early in the morning so Jan made breakfast for everyone. As I happened to catch them all at the table I thought to myself, Thank you God for Jan, for children, for their loving spouses, for grandkids, for Your plan in moving our lives forward.
