Fall Farm Visit

In late October we welcomed folks from New Jersey, Conneticut, Iowa and Minnesota to visit a family farm during harvest season. As executives from the Pepsi-Cola Company and guests of Cargill (Eddyville, IA), they had opportunity to ride in the farm equipment and tour the farm on off-road vehicles.

Afterwards, we gathered in the cabin for Jan's homemade Apple Cider and Almond Bars and visited about agribusiness and farming in Southeast Iowa.

We enjoyed your visit and welcome you and your families back anytime!

After a couple of rain showers last week the country side is covered in corn tassels. In early mornings and late evenings you can smell the tassels and silks as the corn plant starts the process of making an ear.   The smell of corn tassels is a gift, announcing things are happening. Leave The Rest To Him

Memorial Day is past. The crop is growing. The weather is warm. Our 2nd full moon of the month welcomed me up this morning. It's called a blue moon. And it's wedding season. Amelia and Tysen were married Monday. I snagged a picture of them with their parents, Randy and Jodi, and Stacy and Mark. "Direct your children on the right path. And when they get older, they will not leave it". Proverbs 22:6. As parents we raise our kids with love, boundaries, responsibilities, and a care for others. When they become adults and become their own family, we promise them support, we respect their independence, we pray for them, we bless them like these parents are doing at Monday's wedding, and we leave the rest to God. "Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from Him... How joyful is the man whose quiver is full of them". Psalm 127: 3,5. What is a man with a full quiver to do? Serve others. Let It Be Today

The night motel manager in Yuma, AZ and I were outside watching the eclipse of the moon turn red early Tuesday morning (3/3/26) when I received a call from brother Doug telling me our mother had passed away. As I thought about Mom in glory, the song, "Hymn of Heaven" came to mind; "And on that day, we join the resurrection, and stand beside the heroes of the faith". She is also with her husband Harry, son Dan, and great-grandson Ryker. We as siblings and our spouses spent time together remembering, grieving, celebrating, and planning her funeral. Our spouses are absolutely part of our extended family; Beth and husband Dan, Bill and wife Julie, Doug and wife Ginger, Donna and husband Roger, and I and my wonderful wife Jan. Our parent's clan has grown to around 100 souls, and still growing. Mom's funeral was held at church yesterday (3/7/26) on Jan and my 51st wedding anniversary.
