Why do we do what we do? Maybe because it's what we've always done? Maybe to make a living? Maybe because we enjoy it? Karl is checking a three day old plant, hopefully the beginning of a soybean crop.
There are always details behind accomplishing a successful result. Below Laremy is picking up some soybean seed. He and Nicole have a daughter baptized this morning. Congratulations.
Matt and BJ are having a visit with Karl who got home late and is fueling up his sprayer for the next day.
One night someone suggested since the McDonalds driveup was open all night we go get some ice cream in between loading bean seed for the planters.
We must be almost to the finish of the planting season. The seed shed is empty. Thanks for the picture Alex.
Karl spent all week spraying ground planted to soybeans.
Kurt spent all week spraying planted corn. His week was interrupted several times by breakdowns.
Kurt ended the week putting in long days with a loaner sprayer. His job got more complicated since most of the corn has emerged.
Our soybean planting customers are spread out so the planters put on many miles this week.
We could not reach our accomplished results without hardworking, dedicated, and caring help putting in very long days.
Normally Memorial Day weekend is the start of keeping things neat while checking the young growing crops at the same time.
The hired help kept the planters and baler going yesterday while our family finished the week by attending an outdoor wedding with the groom and groomsmen dressed in camouflaged vest and their (boot-en-eer) in a shotgun shell casing. Congratulations Isaiah and Emily.
Since we are in a remembering weekend I would like to remember a fellow farmer friend and neighbor who lost his battle with cancer and finished his life on earth just one year ago this time. Also our condolences to a farm family in our church who lost a daughter and sister yesterday to cancer.
It doesn't matter whether it's growing a crop or living a life it takes faith in doing what we do. Whether we dig up a seed in our jobs or have a child baptized like Brad and Julie are doing this morning we know we can't do it on our own. But we can know beyond the shadow of a doubt that our Creator has a plan from the start to the end already in place. And in between that start and finish God has put folks in our lives that love us and care about us. When we realize that we can head to our destination loving and appreciating what we do.
