Doing something to start a series of actions to happen. Cousins Hazel and Sydnie are playing in their pretend kitchen at Grandma Jan's house. Yep. The spatula is part of the series of actions. Hazel smacks Sydnie. Sydnie doesn't even cry. She just turns as if to say, "what was that for?"
The series of actions continue. Grandpa intervenes. Tells Hazel she has to say she's sorry to her cousin and to give her a hug. She does. The spatula "who done it"mystery is solved.
Last evening Jan and I attended the Spring Gala Supper at Pella Christian High. The meal was a mystery dinner theater where students did a great job of putting on a mystery play.
As I was chiseling up some alfalfa this past week I was reminded of when as a kid one of the first jobs that put the wheels of spring in gear was to seed a new field to oats and moldboard plow the old hay field.
Much of the shop work this past week centered around the sprayers. They are ready to roll thanks to mostly Karl and Kasey. Weather permitting we hope to spray pre-planting herbicides on ground going to soybeans with one and pre-emerge herbicides on planted corn with the other starting tommorow.
The wheels of motion are continuing on Kurt and Emily's new basement. They are looking forward to more space.
Kurt was asked to attend the murder trial going on in Oskaloosa a couple of mornings in his role as a part time deputy.
When he'd get home he would jump back in the planter.
We continue to plant on the well drained and tilled fields leaving the no till and wetter fields for more ideal conditions.
BJ got a second corn planter started yesterday planting one of Andy and Amara's farms they rent off of Amara's parents northeast of Peoria.
One morning when we went in to check on the progress of Randy, Dean, and Ottie getting our combine ready for our next harvest we noticed Mark and Stacy's families combine was in also getting checked over.
At noon one wet day we had Mexican lunch with Dana and Marissa. Dana is my boss on the DeKalb/Asgrow side of our seed business. Marissa is a recent grad of Iowa State and is helping with Climate. Climate is a technology arm of recording and applying data to our planting decisions.
Speaking of wheels, two forklifts is definitely easier than a jack when changing a tire.
Last evening was kind of a pre-prom picture taking session for a bunch of kids from Oskaloosa High School before their Prom. It's fun to get company and share the cabin.
A big thank you to Penn Centre Theatre in Oskaloosa for showing the movie Unplanned. To Kay, the theater manager. To Renae, the theater company assistant in Des Moines. And to Brian, the owner of the theater company for taking a chance that folks would come see this movie. It's a powerful and compelling movie about the culture we live in today. If you haven't been yet, go, and you will be glad you did. It shows in Osky until the 24th of April.
Today is Palm Sunday. It's the beginning of the week that Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey to set the wheels in motion of His paying for our wrongs. His gift of forgiveness for us is the whole reason of the happy ending for the movie Unplanned where we as a culture continue to kill unborn babies. He knew He would be put to death by church leaders that did not accept that He was their Savior. However He also knew and predicted that He would conquer death and resurrect. That's what we celebrate next Sunday. Lets set the wheels in motion for a great week starting today.
