Treasures

One afternoon as we were working we noticed a baby kitten clear up in the combine. 6 year old Ati immediately wanted to rescue it but wasn't quite sure about crawling in a narrow spot with lots of pointy things poking her along the way so she coached her 3 year old sister Nati to try awhile promising Nati a share in the treasure if she could reach it.
Well Ati finally mustarded up enough courage to crawl to the front of the combine and claim her orphan kitten. Their mother Cassia is now helping them feed their new family member every 4 hours with a small bottle.
Kurt, Emily, and Jackson are enjoying living west of Leighton. Harvest started this week and Kurt is on a learning curve with his grain setup.
Their family enjoyed time together in the combine. Their first crop at their new home is a good one. Those of you that know us, yes, there is an extra in the picture. Becky and Brian's, Harris, was over for a visit.
God's timing is so right. I think back to all the times Kurt wanted to come up with a plan so they didn't have to live in town. Then when this couple came and asked that Kurt and Emily be part of their operation it's like, wow God, this feels right.
Yesterday Emily's parents and sisters helped  paint their home. Emily's family is truly a treasure.
It didn't take Jackson long to be a farm kid. Last week he got a finger in the door at Grandma's house. Less than a day after losing his fingernail he dropped something on his toe.
Monday I had breakfast with Rick in Albia. This fellow was hanging around so I had a visit with him. His name was Nick and he wondered if he could get a pic with Rick. Nick told me he immigrated from Albania when he was 18 years old. He now owns and operates this restaurant on Hwy 34 with his wife. Nick told me he was amazed at how apathetic we Americans are in regards to our rights and freedoms. He's right.
My dad had a short stay in the hospital this past week with a little pneumonia.
Fortunately his doctor dismissed him in time to hang out at his consignment sale at the old Oskaloosa salebarn yesterday.
School has started. The kids got out early this week because of hot weather.
I borrowed these pics from daughter-in-laws off the computer. I think we now have about a dozen grandkids in school.
As we celebrate our occupations this Labor Day weekend it's truly a blessing to have the freedom to be and do as we choose. Like the restaurant owner Nick reminded me we have the freedom to try, sometimes succeeding and sometimes failing. However with a work ethic and good attitude we try again.
Last Sunday evening we had a praise service in our church parking lot where we invited guests. It was enjoyed by most and God was praised.
Last Sunday Jubilee Church used our facilities for about a dozen baptisms followed by a picnic. What a neat sight to see fellow Christians making a public statement to serve Christ followed by Christian fellowship. The Bible says, "where your treasure is, there your heart will be also".
