Being a father is one of the most rewarding experiences in a man's life. It also has the most responsibilities. Raising children doesn't come with a set of instructions or a road map. Which direction he chooses to take when it comes to being a father not only affects his life, but his children as well.
As the head of a household, being a father means taking a house and turning it into a home that's safe and friendly for his family. It also needs to be a place where everyone enjoys each other's company. I grew up in a home like that. Thanks Dad for providing that for me. Thanks for giving me responsibility and teaching me to work. Happy Father's Day.
Being a father is hard work. It means having a job, providing for his family, and making sure all their needs are met.
The most important thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother and cherish her.
Being a father means building their children's confidence by spending time with them, making them feel needed, teaching them to work, giving them responsibilities, and affirming them on a job well done.
A father also needs to have the time for the fun things in life. It shows his children he is just as interested in them as he is his work.
Small boys become big men through the influence of big men who care about small boys. Happy Birthday Elijah. Also Happy Birthday this week to Elliott, Rachael, and Stacy. I'm missing one but I can't remember who it is.
Children make mistakes. Being a father means correcting those mistakes by shaping their children's will without breaking their spirit and zest for life.
Being a father means being an example of gratitude for protection, for provision, and for the opportunity of service to his family and others. A father also needs to be an example of a positive attitude, showing his children life is not about what you get out of it. It's about what you put into it.
Finally a father needs to show his children his dependence on his Heavenly Father by praying often and teaching his children to pray as well.
Often a father turns into a grandfather before he fully realizes what an awesome privilege and responsibility God has given him.
