It's late Saturday evening and I'm adding one more picture even though I have plenty. I received two free tickets to the Corn Indy 250 race at Newton Speedway late in the week. Since Jan and I had a late afternoon wedding I tried to give them away but to no avail. So after attending the wedding Jan agreed to go with me on a late date to Newton. It was noisier than quilt shop hopping and more crowded than Sam's or Costco shopping but I had fun. Thanks Jan for coming along.
This past week we were priveledged to have Presidential Candidate Rick Santorum visit our family and a few of our neighbors. The Senator and I met a couple of months back and have stayed in touch. He shared his conservative values and his vision for our country. He and his wife Karen and their seven children are planning a return visit next month to vacation and experiance rural Iowa farm life.
Last Sunday Jan and I went to visit Jan's brother Paul and his wife Gayle. They live southwest of Des Moines near Van Meter. Here Gayle is showing Jan their huge garden.
We have a railroad that runs through our property along our creek bottom. Since the creek has been out so often lately the railroad repair crew made a visit to replace several railroad ties.
Our son-in-law Brian and Karl are discussing where the best place is to plant a food plot on some unfarmed ground that Brian rents. They decided about thirty yards from a tree line considering Brian's marksmanship with a bow. They are hoping for deer and turkey visits this fall.
I made a visit to St Louis late this past week. Monsanto invited myself and about fifteen other seed dealers from six states to talk about plans, image, and structure of the company. This picture was taken from the top of Bush Stadium during a Cardinals baseball game.
